Rally for the Providence Hall Ins.-COBRA Unemployment Extension

A group of dedicated activists braved the heat and the organizer of a rally on the steps of City Hall to demand that our representatives work to break the deadlock over extending unemployment insurance benefits and COBRA suggests that Congress spent money with reckless abandon deposit banks. Garcia Wiley Center sponsors: RI Ocean State Action Council Unemployed George Wiley Center Jobs with Justice, AFSCME Council 94 UFCW United Service and Allied Workers of America Progressive Democrats, Rep. Scott Slater of Providence This core group organized by Central Council and the unemployed Ocean State Action proposes a human face on suffering. The event was also supported by the Progressive Democrats of America, SEIU, and many trade unions. Representative Scott Slaterand a candidate for Congress Betsy Dennigan were present.
