Military Veteran's Who Abuse The System

I have became so frustrated with the system which advocates for military veterans. I continually work within the military veteran community only to view how many people who actually work within this system do not care about military veterans. One would think this is enough to become frustrated, but there is more. What's even more frustrating is viewing the military veterans who abuse the very system which abuses them.

There are military veterans who abuse the system. This is performed with not caring how many other veterans truly need the aid as well as services provided, due to military veterans abusing the system, this creates a backlog which holds up aid to military veterans who are in dire need of help. What I speak of in this instance are military veterans who are constantly in and out of the drug and alcohol rehab programs. I do understand that people whether military veterans or other groups of people can suffer relapses, but when I continually view these particular veterans entering and exiting out of drug rehab sponsored by the "Veteran Affairs", this informs me they are not serious about truly escaping drug and alcohol abuse, they are merely concerned with having a place to go as well as a roof over their head when they hit rock bottom.

This is of course compiled with "VA Employees" who do not genuinely care about aiding veterans and are merely there drawing a government paycheck as well as benefits. I feel that our country can not truly care about the veteran community until veterans as a whole start caring about themselves. I am not stating that the majority of veterans are lazy bums nor am I stating that majority wise they do not care, but there is that minority that screws everything up for the "good" ones. I feel military veterans are very moralistic, proud people, whether they are male or female. Most military veterans do not even want to utilize the "Veteran Affairs Medical Center", for obvious reasons, but they do not have a choice due to high costs of insurance rates as well as many other expenses, basically veterans do what they have to do, in order to receive medical care. It's the lowlife's which consist in all groups of people who continually abuse the systems who should first and foremost be ashamed of themselves, but then again, when one is tweaked out on drugs or alcohol or both, caring is not a priority.

Something else that really makes me see "red", is while these "bums" are blatantly abusing the system, they will be the first ones to stand on self-made soapboxes and scream "I"m a veteran and YOU owe me"! I have news for these bums, I personally do not owe them anything, for I have served my time, I feel that where our nation should be grateful and treat veterans better, one only deserves respect and honor from our civilian population only when we act in a way which deserves respect and honor. We veterans should hold ourselves to a higher standard, reason why? We have represented our country and to lower ourselves to demeaning behavior as well as becoming career criminals or drug addicts as well as abusers of alcohol is a disgrace to the service most speak so highly of. Do I not understand that life is cruel sometimes and people in general screw up? Of course this happens, but where is the line drawn on obtaining the knowledge that one has to straighten their lives out and stop believing that you are excused for this behavior on the sole excuse that you are a military veteran.

Our country does owe we veterans a lot. Do we get what we deserve? Of course not, this is even more the reason to not abuse the system. Veterans are dealing with a system that is seriously backlogged as well as uncaring, one should understand that the "Veteran Affairs" is not an advocacy group, they are a Federal Entity which has been deemed by "Congress" to oversee affairs for our military veterans, in fact, all funds allotted to the "Veteran Affairs" is channeled directly from Congress, therefore, veterans need to understand that sometimes particular monies are not available due to budget cuts, this should wake up all veterans in knowing that sometimes veterans do not get the help they need due to particular slots not being open in particular programs, which is due to veterans abusing the system.

I say we need to weed out these bums and start placing limitations on their many returns to our drug and alcohol rehab's within the "Veteran Affairs Medical Centers". When a veteran is discharged clean and sober, I feel that they should have to stay away for at least a year, as far as the drug/alcohol abuse is concerned, if they decide to get high or begin abusing alcohol once again, force them to go to the local rehab's and forced them to pay out of their own pocket's, this might be a wakeup call for these people.

I'm tired of viewing people who are not abuser's of the system being turned away, merely because they do not know the ins/outs of the system. Let's hope the "Veteran Affairs" wises up to this crisis soon, especially in knowing of the huge wave of veterans coming back from the current war, we have to make room for these kids coming back, they need our help, and I personally do not want to see them turned away because someone is spending their fifth stay in the drug/alcohol rehab center in two years, it's not fair, it's not sane. If you want to be a proud veteran, then lead the life where one can be proud of, do not scream everyone owes you, for our country has proved how they owe us nothing, even more importantly, life itself owes us nothing, but we on the otherhand, owe everything to life. I wish more veterans would contemplate the true meaning of honor and respect as well as pride, if they did, they would not be the bums which abuse the very system which abuses them.

A Very Controversial Article

As Bubba and I took our morning trek, we were passed by three males on bicycles who said "good morning" in very broken English. This started a walk down memory lane for me.

When I first moved to here, over twenty years ago, this was just a small, sleepy town on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. We had two supermarkets, one 'strip mall', and a feed store ten miles inland in an area simply called 'the farms'. The Elementary School went to the eighth grade. My sons' High School graduating class consisted of three hundred students. As you walked along the river bank, you would see small boats and canoes tied to the shore. It did not matter if the boat was there for a day or a month, because anything left in it would still be there when the owner returned.

Our river was 'discovered' by northerners. Huge multi-million dollar mausoleums were built along our river banks, with high fences and electronic gates. Two people sometimes live in these four thousand to five thousand square feet marble and granite 'homes'. Now there are only certain public access areas where one can go down to the river. Every where else is fenced off for private use.

Huge condos were also built along the river bank. The beaches in front of these condos were declared to be 'private beach - for use by condo owners and guests only'. Well, we had a few hurricanes last year. The beach in front of these condos eroded to dangerous proportions. Now the condo associations are asking the state to help build retaining walls. The public was not allowed to use the beach, but is expected to help pay for the retaining walls.

A lot of unskilled laborers were used to build these monstrosities. By unskilled, I mean illegal aliens were brought in to help build them. These unskilled laborers were paid 'off the books'. No taxes were paid for them by the contractors, and consequently they paid no taxes either. They still do not pay any taxes. These laborers brought brothers and cousins to our little town.

Recently, my town built a special building for these illegal aliens to register for work. Previously they were lining the streets, waiting for people to drive by and hire them. Over seven hundred and fifty men showed up on opening day to register. The next day, another three hundred showed up. On the following days, the women went to register. Do the math. Over one thousand illegal aliens live in my town now.

I recently took a friend to the county's main health facility. Of the over one thousand people there that morning, 99.9% only spoke Spanish. They were registering their pregnant wives and children for medical, WIC, food stamps, and every other free service offered by my state. They still pay no taxes.

Our town started growing by leaps and bounds. We now have many national chains with stores located here. The only one I want to focus in on is Wal-Mart. When Wal-Mart was allowed to come here, it quickly put every mom and pop store out of business. The sign, when you walked in, proudly declared "Proud To Sell American Made Products."

It is now impossible to find any product in Wal-Mart that is made in America. Manufactures, which wanted to sell to Wal-Mart, were forced to go overseas to manufacture their products. Wal-Mart had a bidding war. The lowest bid got the contract. Quality did not matter. The bottom line did. Sometimes the lowest bid was only one-half a cent cheaper than the next bidder.

Wal-Mart, when hiring new employees, gives training sessions. One of these training sessions, given within the first week of employment, is how to apply and receive welfare from the state.
Wal-Mart announced, recently, they would not prosecute any shoplifter with twenty-five Dollars ($25) or less in merchandise. I found this to be obscene. To me, this said - we are making so much money by paying only minimum wages and not paying employees that get hurt on the job, that we need the tax write off. So, the first $25 worth of merchandise is free to any and all customers.

When I mentioned Wal-Mart did not pay employees hurt on the job, I am talking about disability. Wal-Mart was 'self insured'. The law, in my state, said all claims had to be settled in two years. The employee was entitled to two-thirds of their salary until the claim settled. All doctors would be paid by the company's insurance. Because Wal-Mart was self insured, they did not pay the doctor bills, the two-third salary or anything else the law said the injured party was entitled to. Wal-Mart waited until the end of the two-year period, and then would go to court and fight the claim. It was cheaper for them to pay lawyers than to pay the injured parties. Many states found out about this practice and forced Wal-Mart to get outside insurance for its employees. I know not all fifty states have done this, so Wal-Mart still gets away with not paying injured employees.

As anyone reading this might guess, I am not a fan of Wal-Mart, nor of illegal aliens. I recently saw an interview with an illegal alien. This person stated he was using someone else's social security number and paying taxes on it. This person worked, bought a home, purchased a car and thought it was ok because he was contributing to the other persons social security. I called this identity theft.

Some people might disagree with what I have written. That is ok. We are all entitled to our opinion on matters. I have simply stated mine.

The river changed its course and t he flood affected over 2.3 million people in the northern part of the state of Bihar.

4. Worst man made disaster in India: The terror attack on 26/11 in Mumbai is supposed to be the worst terror attack in India, second only to 9/11. Terrorists from Pakistan attacked Mumbai CST, took siege of Taj hotel and Trident-Oberoi hotel from 11 pm 26th November 2008. Brave NSG commandos came to rescue and gunned down all terrorists by 30th November' 2008. About 250 lives were lost in the terror attacks with many injured, and property worth 700 crores were destroyed.

5. Best movie of 2008: Ghajini, the Aamir Khan starrer proved to be the biggest hit of 2008. Ghajini is the only movie with the best advanced booking, running to packed houses in the history of Bollywood.

6. Best actor and actress of 2008: Aamir Khan's brilliant performance in Ghajini and Priyanka Chopra in Fashion.

7. Most watched TV reality show : The mother of all reality shows, Bigg Boss kicked off on August 17 th 2008 and ended on November 22' 2008. The high point of the show when Rahul Mahajan, Zulfi Syed, Raja Choudhary and Ashutosh Kaushik-the finalists, ran away from the house to search for food outside. Rahul later quit from the show. Eventually, Ashutosh Kaushik won the show.

8. Most watched TV channel: Colors Channel, replaced Star plus as the most watched channel. It kicked off with the dare devil game show for women: Khatron Ke Khiladi. Her servant Hemraj who was initially suspected by the police was also found murdered on the terrace of her building. A disorganized, confused investigation by the Noida Police led to the arrest of Arushi's dentist father Rajesh Talwar. Rajesh's wife Dr. Nupur Talwar protested that her husband was frame and requested the UP government to transfer the case to CBI. The team finally arrested accused Krishna, Rajkumar and Vijay Mandal in connection with the murdered and absolved Rajesh Talwar of the murder charge. On August 9 2008, CBI director Ashwani Kumar said that the case is still unsolved, as many important corroborative pieces of evidence yet to be found. This was one murder case which was played to the top by the media and police; both whom were later blamed to giving hasty conclusion and indulging in character assassination of the slain Arushi and her father.
